When you drive your car for a rideshare or ride hail app, you'll probably want to have insurance if you're caught up in an accident, so you may want to consider rideshare cover. Simply get a quote online for either Third Party or Comprehensive Car Insurance, and when asked about the primary use of your car, select rideshare.

Plus, if you take up Comprehensive car insurance you can choose optional hire car cover, so if your car's ever out of action because of an incident covered by your policy, we'll arrange some temporary wheels for you. Due to the hire car company's terms and conditions, hire cars often can't be used for rideshare purposes, but you'll still be able to use the hire car for your own personal use. Optional hire car cover means we'll arrange a hire car when your own is out of action because of an incident covered by your policy. We'll try to provide a similar make and model to your car so you can feel right at home.

Plus, you'll get copycat cover. In a nutshell, copycat cover means that while we settle your claim, you'll have the same insurance cover which you normally hold for whatever car you're driving (limited to market value) while your car is unavailable - whether that's a hire car, your partner's car, your friend's car, and so on. Your listed drivers will also be considered listed drivers when driving that car too.

Just remember, hire cars can't be used for rideshare purposes depending on the hire car provider's terms and conditions.

 

Windscreen and Window Glass Cover

Cover for damaged windscreen and window glass repairs and replacements without having to pay an excess, when the windscreen or window glass is the only thing that's been damaged. Includes windscreen, window and sunroof glass.

When you have rideshare use nominated on your policy, Bingle's Comprehensive Car Insurance covers damage to your car if it was being used in a rideshare arrangement, including Uber, Lyft, Shebah or other rideshare apps. Cover includes:

  • Driver-partners who use privately owned vehicles to provide trips or journeys through ride share or ride hail apps such as Uber, Lyft, Shebah, and more.

Bingle's Third Party Property Damage car insurance covers damage caused by the use of your car to another person's property.

We recommend that you check the policy documents before selecting Third Party or Comprehensive Car Insurance. You'll find all the nitty gritty of what's included and not included, so you can choose which meet your needs.

Please note: A taxi or hire car is not treated as rideshare for this policy.

What's the difference between Comprehensive Car Insurance and Third Party Property Damage?

With Comprehensive Car Insurance, you're covered for damage to your car, and other people's car and property. With Third Party, you're covered for damage caused to someone else's vehicle or property if you're liable for it.

What is the difference between market value and agreed value?

Market value is the amount your car is worth on the buying/selling market at the time of sale. Agreed value is the price of your car that's been agreed on by you and your insurer, usually at the time of taking out or renewing your policy.
